Myanmar Outreach
The Myanmar Freshwater Project seeks to address the lack of clean water for drinking and sanitation at the gemstone mines in Myanmar. The issue is critical -without readily available clean water, health and sanitation issues abound. Currently, artisanal miners onsite have limited access to water for cleaning, showering, etc.. The Myanmar Freshwater project is initiating the creation of a dam with fresh water reservoirs for the miners and surrounding population, with completion anticipated in 2022.
Miners and Brokers taking a break in West Mogok
Rockstoc is actively involved in the training and education of artisanal miners and cutters in Myanmar with the express purpose of creating more equitable financial opportunity and better working conditions. Because our primary business partner lives and works in Mogok, he allows us to see the perspectives and unique needs of the local community. As a result, our company offers funding for educational outreach and medical care and is one of the only dealers in the area to incorporate weekly time off into the work environment (ten hour days, seven days a week are the established norm in Mogok, Myanmar).
